My Garden Dances
by
Nina Harbison
3rd grade poet - Barnette Magnet School
Petals of pansies and lacey white lupine,
Red roses that shine on the terrace,
As I dance all over my garden,
I twirl, I spin, and I dance with the wind;
I am very happy in my garden!
The roses bow.
The lupines yell, "Bravo!"
I bow and curtsy at the end of the show.

Just Listen
by
Leah Sellers
3rd grade poet - Barnette Magnet School
As the wind blows the birds sing a lullaby in my ear,
like I am standing in a quiet, peaceful dream.
The smell of linnea fills the air,
and a rainbow of color covers the meadow.
The world is still.
The only sound is the sound of water drops.

My Favorite Thing to do in the Garden
by
Jazmine Velazquez-Speakman
2nd grade poet - Salcha Elementary School
My favorite thing to do
in the garden is
to watch the summer breeze
flow through the garden.
The tulips roll up.
The daisies shimmer with the wind.
And what am I forgetting?
Oh yea, forget-me-nots shimmering.
The smooth wind.
The dandelions.
They're whooshing around. |

Picking the Rich Carrots
by
Mason Price
3rd grade poet - Salcha Elementary School
I love picking the rich carrots
out of the cool, soft soil.
Even eating them feels
like I'm living in royal.
Every time I eat them
I feel so lucky.
I love to plant them
when it's real, real sunny.
You never know how
your carrot is going to look.
It might be red, white, yellow
you'll never know.
It's time to end so you see,
so keep planting
and you'll have carrots like me. |

Eating In The Garden
by
Gentry Johnson
2nd grade poet - Salcha Elementary School
I like eating in the garden,
Such as snap peas, strawberries,
Carrots, and salad.
But most of all,
I like rhubarb.
And I like seeing the moose eating the same
things,
Sometimes.

My Favorite Thing To Do In The Garden
by
Makenzie Merrill
3rd grade poet - Salcha Elementary School
My favorite thing to do in
the garden is everything. But
my most favorite things are sugar
snap peas because they are so sweet
and crunchy and juicy. I also like
cauliflower too. It looks like
white trees and I love
playing with it.
But in the
fall
harvest
lots
of
vegetables
for the
winter.
You
have
to work
really hard. But you get to have fun and you get to be
really dirty. And the flowers shine through the sky.

My Imagination Garden
by
Dimitri Padgett
3rd grade poet - Barnette Magnet School
In my imagination garden plants never die.
The rabbits are chocolate, but you need to trap them
if you want to eat one. On the fence birds sing
beautiful songs about how exquisite my plants and
flowers are. It never snows in my garden. During
the night strawberries and morning glories glow.
During the day my sunflowers shine. The grapes
they are the sweetest. The bees make the sweetest
honey. The jellybeans I grow explode in your mouth
with sweetness. The squirrels in my garden have to
be careful and have strong teeth because the nuts are
hard as cement. To enter my garden you need to go
through the maze. Don't make the squirrels angry!
Watch out, there is a flower that makes you sleep if
you pick it. The carrots throw
spears made from
normal carrots. The tomatoes burst. A type of plant I
grow turns into a rocket when you pick it. I have
tamed all the moose so that I can ride them whenever
I want. There is a river in my garden as deep as the
Lochness. In fact, there is a sea monster living in it.
If you try to get into my garden, he uses his fins like
a fan to keep you out. There are dragons there too.
The dragons breathe ice and can turn you into ice
scuptures. The coffee beans I grow know what to
do. They jump into the coffee blender and then
coffee is ready.

The Bamboo Maze
by
Damon Johns
3rd grade poet - Barnette Magnet School
I crawl through a maze in my garden.
My maze has walls and a roof of bamboo.
Rainbow flowers wrap the bamboo, so in the snow it
looks like an igloo.
A secret flower lets you fly -
another flower, POOF you vanish!
In an instant you are in the center of my maze, where you
can jump in the pool and cool yourself from the summer sun.

My Garden and Me
by
Deirdre Stanton
3rd grade poet - Barnette Magnet School
In the summer it's just my garden and me.
I plant a seed in my garden's best soil.
I water the seed and wait overnight.
When I awake the next morning there is a little green
shoot.
I am so, so happy that I jump for joy!
I can already imagine how lovely my poppy will be-
Big and red, what a beautiful poppy it will be!

Garden Healing Touch
by
Steven Bateman
4th grade poet - Barnette Magnet School
I'm sick as Dick next door
I'm going to fall on the floor
I want to go to the Garden
And get out of this den
And into the open
And fall into the hands of the Gardens Healing
