Education Program Logistics
Chaperones: At least one responsible adult is required for each 12 students. Program Duration: Each program lasts 20-30 minutes. Please allow for 10 minutes of introduction upon arrival and 5 minutes for rotation time between programs (if there is more than 1 group). Fee: $2.00 per student. Arrival: The program leader will meet you at the agreed upon time of Attire: The programs will occur rain or shine so please bring appropriate clothes, shoes, and outerwear. Other items may include sunhats, sunscreen, bug dope and water. Bees, wasps: Please keep in mind that we will be in an outdoor garden setting, which we share with many animals including bees and wasps. If there are any students or adult supervisors with known allergic reactions, please let us know and bring the appropriate protective gear. Staff are not permitted to administer medicines but will provide emergency assistance and contact authorities. Lunch: You are welcome to bring bag lunches and eat at the GBG pavilion before or after your scheduled program if it is available. You must check on its availability. The covered pavilion has tables, benches and trash canisters. It is the responsibility of the students and chaperones to clean up the area after use. Insufficient cleaning of the pavilion may result in loss of use in the future. Facilities: Two, single-use restrooms are located in the visitor center and one accessible outhouse is in the parking area outside of the visitor center.
