The Georgeson Botanical Garden conducts three-year trials on nearly 350 annual flowering plants in the Georgeson Botanical Garden. They are rated on numerous traits including foliage and flower quantity and quality, fragrance, frost tolerance, and disease and insect resistance plus an overall rating based on a scale of zero to four with zero being plants that died or did not germinate, and four, being truly outstanding cultivars with consistently superior performance for three years. The trial results are available each year, but this list is the best of the best. The flowers listed below have received an average rating of 3.5 or higher for the entire trial period.
